Up! The Novelty of Hot Air Balloons

by

Since I was a little girl, I have been enamored with the colorful mélange of patterns on hot air balloons taking flight. Photographs of hot air balloons from New Mexico, Turkey and Myanmar flying over vast terrains captivated my imagination. Now that we are calling Maine for this short spell, we decided to take a quick journey up into the sky with Androscoggin Balloon Adventures.

A Guide to Local Favorites in Downeast Maine (Beech Hill Pond, Ellsworth, Blue Hill, Bar Harbor)

by

I’m passing the remaining waning days of summer in Maine, a state where I attended college, but have never had the chance to enjoy a proper summer in. July and August were often spent interning in Vietnam, Canada or New York, so this is the first time in my life that I’ve felt the idyllic August days of Maine. We’re on a lake, in between Ellsworth and Bar Harbor, and the weather here is so reasonably temperate. There’s enough sun to jump in headfirst into the freshwater current, but just enough of an optimal drift of wind causing the canopies of the trees to sway ever so slightly. In the mornings, I brush my teeth out on to the balcony, which overlooks the breathtaking “stairway to heaven” that is our lifeline to the lakefront.

Talks@Google with Aerin Lauder

by

With work from home extended until July 2021 for my company, I invited Aerin Lauder of the eponymous brand Aerin to share her advice on how to decorate interiors and spaces during a time when many of us have had to adjust to makeshift offices or convert dining room tables into shared workspaces. The epitome of elegance and grace, Aerin also shared stories about her grandmother, the beauty pioneer Esteé Lauder, who lived the American dream by building up one of the world’s largest beauty empires. The Estée Lauder company now consists of many beauty counter favorites such as Clinique, Bobbi Brown, La Mer and Origins.

Loop Store: Zero-Waste with Hidden Costs

by

I’ve started thinking about what I should do next after Google (or within Google if the opportunity strikes). As an avid online shopper, I receive more packages than I would like to publicly divulge. Eventually, I began to make it a point to note the material composition of the boxes that arrive at my doorstep. For a few years, packaging has been a space that I’ve been pondering about. Before COVID-19 forced our hand in regards to how we buy and sell goods vis-a-vis, e-commerce was already trending upwards. One only needs to take a look at the Amazon effect on our lobbies and recycling departments to see that this is a business and environmental problem that requires an outside of the box solution!

Safari Days in South Africa

by

Safaris are not holidays for those looking for a slow-paced sojourn. I’ve been waking up at 4:30 AM every day for our early morning game drives. There was no time for jet lag! In the span of 6 days, we’ve been to two national parks (Pilanesberg, Kruger) and one private game reserve nestled in a sprawling mountain range with lush green foliage (Bongani).
